I feel that it is possible that she had it long before meeting him. Also, you can't check for herpes unless you have a break out to do a slide, correct? So he could have had it and it not be active in him when he was tested, correct. My husband and I both have herpes. We don't know if the fever blister on his mouth was transfered to me or an out break from a previous partner could have manifested itself long after we got together. Because we don't know exactly, we chalk it up to an unfortunate situation, we're careful and we love each other. No need in trying to find out where it originated from at this point if we are going to stay together after 30 years
