I had unexplained anemia for months. At the same time, I craved ice, ate mostly cereal, and was working many hours a week. An oncological hema- tologist put me on ferrous sulfate. Not long after, I had hiatal hernia surgery, and 2 years later, another hiatal hernia surgery that I barely survived. Somewhere, in investigating the pica (ice eating), I found a reference to hiatal hernia in the same article. Are these conditions related to one another? I'm very afraid of another episode.
