tko - A pneumothorax is a collection of air or gas in the chest or pleural space that causes part or all of a lung to collapse.A catamenial pneumothorax is considered rare and is a collapsed lung that occurs at the same time as menstruation. The condition is believed to be caused by the presence of endometrial tissue in the chest cavity which produces blood (just as in the uterus) and can result in the lung collapsing. The lung tends to collapse within three days of the start of menstruation.
Since this condition is rare, and your surgeon did not find unique tissue during your surgery, the chances of your having this particular condition seem remote.
