The sperm that dried on your hand is indeed no longer alive. Sperm would have to actually enter the vaginal opening in order for you to become pregnant so you have nothing to worry about. Since you are inexperienced with sex, you should really go and talk with a physician about birth control methods since you are starting to experiment. Or wait! Waiting is even a better solution.
