Hi,
Anytime you have unprotected sex, there is a risk for pregnancy. What you did has a name...it is called the "withdrawal method" of birth control, where the man withdraws his penis before ejaculating. This is not a very effective form of birth control, only up to about 70% when practiced correctly. (This compares to up to 98% effectiveness for condoms, when used correctly).

If your girlfriend had her menstrual period AFTER she had unprotected sex, then this means she is not pregnant. (I just wanted to make sure that you two did not have unprotected sex again after her period?).

If she is experiencing irregular menstrual cycles frequently, she would need to call her doctor (or, she can ask us...we would need more specific information about her cycles, age, etc). Irregular menstrual cycles is not a cause for alarm, as they are common. If she experiences cycles that are only 7 days apart on a regular basis (they should be 21-35 days apart), she would need to call her doctor.
