Vegetarian and vegan diets are great ways to lose weight. A raw food diet is another step in the right direction, but you're right- it might not be right for some people, and there are definitely drawbacks to it. Brad's Raw Chips (www.bradsrawchips.com) is a great snack to try if you want to cut out processed and unhealthy foods from your diet; it's a crunchy, raw chip made from vegetables, but it is something that everyone, raw foodies or not, could enjoy.
