Part of my onset of alcoholism was genetic to be sure. But from the time I was very young, I felt out of place in the world. I couldn't face life on life's terms. Alcohol made me feel I belonged and eased my nerves at first. Then I needed it both emotionally and physically as time went on., It really doesn't matter because now that I know I'm alcoholic, it only matters what I do about it.
