Hi, unfortunately, anytime you miss birth control pills, you have a risk for pregnancy. The more pills you miss, and the more times you have intercourse, the more chances you have to become pregnant.
I understand you wanting to make up the missed pills since you had unprotected sex, but taking them after-the-fact will not prevent a pregnancy.
Who did you talk to, when they said you need to start a new pack and let your period "run it's course"? That is correct...just want to make sure that if it was your doctor's office, that they also told you about taking emergency contraception. Did you tell them you had unprotected sex during those four days of missed pills? I am still not sure why you thought it was safe to also have unprotected sex after you missed pills and had an early period. It is easy to miss or forget pills, but when you were already nervous about pregnancy...to then have unprotected sex twice after that? It makes me worry about you...are you able to ask your partner to wear a condom? Does he know that you missed a pills? It is so important to be able to communicate these things, because no one is perfect!
Your cycle will most likely change since you are starting a new pill pack at a different time. If your period does not begin at the end of your pill pack, you may want to take a home pregnancy test. I know this is not what you want to hear. Let us know how you are doing.
