Hi Anonymous,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHer.
Symptoms of pregnancy can mimic those signaling a period coming. The surest way to know is to take a pregnancy test (HPT)--since yours came out negative, I'd say go with that for now. Some say HPTs give accurate results up to 5 days before you expect your period, others contend it's best to wait a few days after a missed period. I agree your cycle may be a bit messed up since you skipped a week and forgot to take some when you started taking them again, but alas, I'm not a doctor, so as they say, "take it with a grain of salt."
So you can wait until next week and see if your period ever starts up again. Then if you end up not getting any more flow, take another HPT, or go to the doctor for a blood test to check for pregnancy. You also can vow to get better about not missing your pills, and wait to see if you get your period next month.
Regardless what you decide to do, try to not stress. Stress can do a number on your health and your period. Here is an article on managing stress:

If you're having trouble remembering to take your pill, your doctor can help you figure out what birth control is right for you at this time in your life so you don't have to go through this uncertainty again.

Good luck and please let us know how you're doing.
