Anon - There are two types of fatty liver disease - one type is related to a history of using alcohol and the other type is not.It sounds like your doctor hasn't provided much information and that you have a lot of questions. It also sounds like your doctor is monitoring your medical condition closely and is not expressing alarm.

Since you haven't mentioned alcohol issues, I'm going to assume you have nonalcoholic fatty liver, but if this is wrong just let us know.

Here are some resources for more information to better understand what causes this, how it is treated, how it impacts your lifestyle and more.

As you will see in the information, treating this condition can be complex and may require a lot of adjustments. EmpowHER does not provide medical diagnostic advice and we are not able to provide interpretation of your results. The information in the articles should help, and you may also want to check out a site which we like that provides in-depth information about lab test results which is at http://www.labtestsonline.org/
The site includes a section on liver disease.

Without treatment of course liver disease can progress and lead to serious illness. It's good that you are working with specialists, and I hope this additional information will give you more peace of mind.

Take care,
Pat
