Thank you for sharing this, Andrew. You are so right. It is all about bottom line and managing risk. As a business, I can understand that, but in health care I think we need to find a way to combine compassion and common sense with the bottom line. Otherwise, we need to dump the bottom line altogether somehow.
I'm sure this will get some pro-business complaints in response, but when you are talking about people's lives, it just can't be about the bottom line all the time. In the U.S. we kill people everyday by excluding them from health care because of finances. It the real numbers became known, there would be outrage.
