Hi,
We heard back from our medical expert, Dr. Sarrel. This is his response:

"From your description it sounds like you have a 'Bartholin's Gland cyst'. The gland is at the vaginal opening and it's fluid is usually released through a duct. However, the duct can get plugged and the fluid backs up behind the plug. With release of the plug the cyst disappears but the situation can occur again. Since you described a lump that was there, went away, and came back it sounds most like a Bartholin Cyst.

There are other things to think about but whatever the explanation, you do need to have a gynecological exam. Just be sure the mass is there when you go to see the doctor.

You will also need to describe the pain with your period as that may be related to the mass but it might be due to something else."
Dr. Sarrel

Were you able to see your doctor (or another doctor)? Please let us know how you are doing!
