Hi Anonymous

Tons of research is currently being done on the effects of Vitamin D deficiency, and the standards of just how much D we should all be taking is currently evolving as well. Vitamin D deficiency is linked to everything from pain tolerance to autoimmune disease and even certain cancers.

Research reported in the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology (2007, Apr; 26(4):551-4) links Vitamin D deficiency to anxiety, depression, and fibromyalgia (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16850115). So it is a possibility that this is part of your anxiety issue, although anxiety is very complicated and usually multi-factorial, meaning there are several contributing causes.

We have an article and quite a bit of discussion related to Vitamin D deficiency here on the site as well: https://www.empowher.com/providers/article/vitamin-d-deficiency.

I hope this helps. I tend to be low on Vitamin D myself, and am tested regularly. Then I take the prescription supplements for 4-8 weeks, I do okay for a while, get tested again and have to repeat the cycle. Ask your prescriber what type of supplementing you should do after the prescription runs out. Sometimes they will suggest Citracal or something similar.

Good luck to you. I hope you feel better soon.
