Can I assume that "the pill" was an emergency contraceptive like Plan B or Next Choice?

Taking an emergency contraceptive within 24 hours of unprotected sex, which you did, will prevent pregnancy.

Changes in your menstrual cycle is a side effect of an emergency contraceptive. The vaginal bleeding from 12/21 until 12/24 is a good indication that you are not pregnant.

Your next period, for the month of January, can be late because you took an emergency contraceptive. It may take another month before your cycle becomes regular. Your period may come early or late. Your flow may be heavy or light.

I hope that I have answered your question,
