Most of the medical literature discusses the aging ovum between ages 40-45, and that women's follicles at more advanced ages are not receptive to hormonal stimulation (for egg donation, for example). However, the literature also points out that these are averages; women (on average) are perimenopausal or in menopause around age 50; others it is around age 60. You can review statistics and what is most likely, but what is more important: talk with your doctor about your specific health, the health of your ovum, and how your body responds to necessary treatments to stimulate your follicles and produce healthy eggs.
