Women accidently miss a pill, and this is OK....but it is important to "make up" the missed pills. You did not mention that you actually took Mondays or Wednesdays pill after you realized you missed them. Please read the information in your prescription, as it details how to make up missed pills by "doubling up" on the next day. If you miss one pill and take it as soon as you remember...you do not have an increased risk of pregnancy.

If you missed Monday's pill and did not take it later, took Tuesdays pill late, then missed Wednesday's pill and skipped it (did not take it at all), then you have two skipped days of pills, and your pill's effectiveness would be slightly decreased.

When did you have unprotected sex? Your chances of pregnancy would be low, as if you had sex on Sunday (for example), missed Monday's pill (no increased risk for pregnancy when missing one pill), then took Tuesday's pill (some hormones back in your system)...the sperm would most likely not still be viable in your system by the time you missed Wednesday's pill. Sperm can live up to 3-5 days inside a woman's body in the best circumstances (meaning, when she is most fertile and has a "conducive" environment). Taking birth control pills makes our bodies "hostile" for sperm (when taken every day), making it unlikely they would be viable for more than 1-2 days.

If this does happen again, here is how you can take them so you have a steady amount of hormones in your system (and no increased risk of pregnancy):
Monday: oops! missed pill
Tuesday: take Tuesday's pill AND Monday's pill
Wednesday: oops! missed pill
Thursday: take Thursday's pill AND Wednesday's pill
