Anon - Thanks for your question. The first thing to know is that ovarian cysts are very common. The second thing to know is that pain is not necessarily a sign of ovarian cancer, which does not usually show symptoms until the late stages. These are the symptoms of ovarian cancer:
* Abdominal discomfort and/or pain
* Gas, indigestion , pressure, swelling, bloating, or cramps
* Ascites
* Nausea, diarrhea , constipation , or frequent urination
* Loss of appetite
* Feeling of fullness even after only a light meal
* Unexplained weight gain or loss
* Abnormal bleeding from the vagina
* Hair growth, voice deepening, acne , loss of menstrual periods in some rare stromal tumors
There are many types of ovarian cysts. The following link will help you better understand them and prepare for your follow up appointments with your doctor. Please keep us posted on your progress, and good luck to you. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ovarian_cysts/article_em.htm
