Thank you for your question and for joining EmpowHER. Anytime you have sexual intercourse and don't use a condom there is a risk of pregnancy. The withdrawal method of birth control is only about 70% effective at preventing pregnancy. There also is a thing called pre-ejaculate fluid that doesn't contain sperm, but it could catch residual sperm left behind after a previous ejaculation, so it's not completely safe to engage in intercourse without protection.
If she misses her period, she can take a home pregnancy test, or ask for a pregnancy test from her doctor.
