I too have run, walked, swam for "the cure". With so much breast cancer in my family, I might have been the person who would also shave my head without second thought if I thought it would support my mom, sisters, aunts, grandma through their battles with breast cancer. As a bald-for-life woman though, I have another layer of perspective that paints my reactions. Having so far avoided cancer by having prophylactic double mastectomies and oopherectomy, I still experience daily life as someone assumed to have cancer. It makes it hard to imagine signing up for this voluntarily, but then again, temporary baldness would be just that - temporary.
Thanks for reading!
