Chocolate milk may have more sugar than non-flavored white milk, but the juice that cafeterias serve have FAR more sugar than both combined!! Do you think kids will choose white milk over juice?? I can tell you from 2 years of experience working in an elementary school that they will NOT. At least when students are able to choose flavored milk, they are getting the calcium, protein and Vitamin D that they so desperately need! Juice only provides empty calories. Good luck to the teachers who get to deal with a classroom that goes through a collective sugar high and subsequent crash...
