Hi,
According to Sandhya Pruthi, MD of the Mayo Clinic, caffeine does not appear to cause breast cysts. She continues by saying that, in large quantities, caffeine can raise the levels of cortisol and other stress hormones in your system — and stress hormones may, over time, affect your reproductive hormones. The interplay of caffeine, stress hormones and reproductive hormones could play a role in premenstrual breast swelling and discomfort. Some women report reduced breast pain when they go off caffeine. No research has documented this effect. Limited research has indicated an correlation between high caffeine intake and pre-cancerous or high risk breast lesions. If you have a high caffeine intake, you might want to consider cutting back, for overall health reasons.
