Hello Maryann,
It is always wonderful that you can contribute a personal perspective on the issues I write about. I think it truly helps others to not feel so alone.

Yes, regarding the trauma of having to sweep up gobs of hair that just moments ago were attached to your head, this is why many women recommend cutting the hair very short before even beginning chemo. It does not prevent the inevitable nor make it easy, but it make it easier. Many women these days are having head shaving parties prior to chemo, gatherings in which they surround themselves with loved one's, and one of those loved one's does the honor of shaving their head. In doing so, they both avoid the trauma of watching it fall out, and the feelings of isolation.

My company, 4Women.com, actually provides free brochures with the above tips to cancer centers, oncology practices, and the like, for distribution to women. Women find them very helpful, so I thought I'd share them in a blog format.

Thanks for commenting!
