Hi Anonymous,
According to an organizational gastric website, chronic inflammation can occur with prolonged use of certain medications (such as aspirin and drugs for arthritis), gastrointestinal disorders like Crohn’s disease, alcoholism, or viral infections. Recently it was discovered that many cases of gastritis are caused by a bacterium, Helicobacter pylon. The agency also has been linked to peptic ulcers and is the only agent that is currently known to be able to survive in the acidic environment of human stomach.

Although food is not the cause of gastritis, people with symptoms should avoid spicy or highly acidic foods, which can irritate the stomach lining. They should also avoid fatty foods, tomato products, chocolate, caffeinated drinks, tea and decaffeinated coffee, peppermint, and alcohol. These foods relax the valve between the esophagus and the stomach and make it easier for stomach contents back up into the esophagus, causing irritation.
Have you been back to your treating physician for follow up? What did he/she say?
Here is a website that may be helpful also http://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/sec02/ch013/ch013c.html.

I hope this helps.
