Do bucket handle meniscal tears always show up on Mri's?

I have suffered from knee pain off and on for the past four years. The pain is normally exacerbated when my knee is bent. Often, when straightening my knee after it has been bent my knee will be locked, causing me to be unable to straighten it. I also have experienced a loss in my range of motion. Nevertheless, nothing shows up on my MRI. Is this possible?

Hi injured my knee playing rugby after about 16!weeks finally got an MRI after being told there was nothing wrong, from MRI I was told it was all clear and again nothing wrong. Went back to work for a month but symptoms and swelling still there.... 20weeks after initial injury! Finally had an arthroscopy where there was a bucket handle tear.... I was told something had folded over and covered it during the MRI but to answer your question MRI can definitely miss a bucket handle tear.
