Since you are unsure of exact dates of your last menstrual period, but you do know the date when you had sex with birth control failure (August 26th).

You can use this date of 8/26 to determine when you can first take a home pregnancy test, and receive accurate results. It takes 10-14 days after sex (assuming you ovulate on this same day) before you become pregnant, did you know that?! It's not instantaneously, like many women assume...it takes almost 2 weeks for the sperm to reach the egg in the fallopian tube (or wait a day for it to be released), then for the newly-fertilized egg to travel from fallopian tube to uterus, and fin a cozy place to implant.

With this information...you can take a test 2 weeks after the birth-control-failure date, and know that your test results are accurate. You will know if your period has started within this time frame, too.
