Hi,
It must be frightening to awake and be unable to breath, have chest pain and then have no memory of the episode. I understand that you have many health issues and are taking medications for these various conditions. But, have you reported these episodes to your doctor? If so, what has your doctor advised? Have you had an upper endoscopy to determine why you feel the lump in your throat when you cough or why you sometimes vomit?
Have you had a chest x-ray or a CT scan of the chest? Your 35 year history of smoking plus your complaint of bad chest pain, being awakened from sleep and unable to breath raise alarm signals that need to be evaluated. Make an appointment to have a complete physical exam and any necessary diagnostic testing to find out what is the cause of your symptoms.
