Ovarian Cysts

I have been bleeding for almost over a month now and I finally had my ultrasound appointment this past Monday. Back in January 2011 I was told I have two cysts on the right and left side of my ovaries. And so in March 2011 then I went for an MRI as well. So from comparing the results from Jan and March to the one I just did Monday, the cysts have grown bigger. I have not seen the gyno yet because my appointment is not until November. I have been bleeding more heavily now with pretty big sized blood clots which does not seem normal to me.

I am just wanting to know if have those cysts and if they have NOT burst, can I still be bleeding this much because of that? I am not having cramps or stomach pains, just back and hip aches but not a whole lot. So, is it possible to bleed without the cysts actually bursting?

Hi Susan,

I had my gyno appt yesterday and the doctor recommended that I either take some sort of medication or birth control pills. And I decided to go with the birth control pills because i had already taken them before and it seemed the best option for me.

However, as for the cysts I have and the bleeding I have been experiencing are not related to each other at all. I am bleeding due to hormones.

I have endometroima which is what the doctors have told me.

Hi Susan,

Remember when you mentioned that I should not be trying to get pregnant well turns out you are right. Because, now I am bleeding alot more heavily and it seems impossible to even try at this point. I may consider going back on the pill, because since the bleeding has become heavy now at times, it does not seem like a great option to even try until I get this all figured out.

I do have another gyno appointment this week to tell the gyno that since the last time he has checked me I am bleeding more now with big clots. The last time he checked me, I had taken 1 pill the day before I saw him and so when he checked me, there was practically nothing (meaning i was not bleeding) and then of course a day or two later it started up again because that one pill was out of my system.

And you are right, I am most likely not ovulating at all at this point considering what is going on.

I will keep you posted as to what I find out in the next few days.

Thanks Susan!

Hi Susan,

So I went to see the gyno today and we talked about my problems that have been going on. He said the cyst is big but surgery would be last resort. I did mention to him that I was having mild pain sometimes but a lot of backaches. He said I am most likely bleeding continuously because of my hormones and not due to the cyst. Also, if I was trying to get pregnant then I could still try even though I am still bleeding but if I am not trying to get pregnant then to take birth control pills. So now because I am continuously bleeding, how do I know when I am ovulating and/or when to know is the best to time to try to have a baby in this current case of mine???

What are some ways I can be more relaxed and less stressed about my cysts? Like I don't know what I should be doing to avoid thinking about it constantly esp if I keep bleeding....any suggestions???

Do ovarian cysts put pressure on your bladder to urinate alot too???

Yeah I have been calling for quite a while now and so far there has been no cancellations. It is exhausting because for one I am losing blood and I am taking iron pills to help at the same time...but the back and hip aches have started so it's tiring and exhausting. It doesnt make you want to do a whole lot except just stay home and rest. Didnt think at the age of 25 I would have these problems either....

The appointment is November 2 so about a week and a half way. I am trying to get in earlier, but the gyno has not had any cancellations as of yet...so right now I can't do a whole lot but wait until my appointment.

So the common symptom which is menstural bleeding, I am guessing that is what is happening to me. My family doctor told me that I may need surgery because my cysts are over 5cm and that I am not bleeding because of the cyst. But since it is a common symptom that you mentioned above, I was thinking the entire time it was.
