Thank you for your question! What may be happening to you is not that your period is cut short but that you are noticing less blood on your tampon because, unlike your pads, the tampon is a highly absorbent product. What most people don't realize is that during our periods we really only lose about 1-2 tablespoons of blood. In a pad it appears as much more because they are thin and even when absorbed, you can see if soaked up because the blood spreads. In the tampon, on the other hand, the blood gets soaked up into something the size of your finger, or even smaller. So, even though it may appear as though you're bleeding less-- do not fear, you're still shedding that lining. Also, keep in mind that our cycles go through their own changes and while some months we may have longer, heavier periods other months we will have shorter, lighter periods.
