Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question. Most of the time, Brown vaginal discharge is often associated with old endometrial tissues. If your period is late you might get a brown, rather than red, discharge. Which in your case this could be what's happening. You mentioned having your period 39 days ago. It could also mean during your last menses the entire uterine lining failed to exit your body completely. Some other causes of Brown vaginal discharge can also be, cervical cancer, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), perimenopause, menopause, or sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, Chlamydia or vaginal warts. If the cause of the brown vaginal discharge is simply old uterine cells, then the treatment may be better nutrition, regular exercise and drinking more water. If, the discharge is a result of another condition treatments or medications might be needed. Not having insurance makes it more difficult. But a physician will be the only one to determine the cause through medical testing.

Best of luck,
Daisy
