Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question. Very powerful medication. Not sure why you doctor prescribe you this. But Methotrexate is a chemotherapy agent that has been used for many years in the treatment of cancer because it affects cells that are rapidly dividing. In a Methotrexate (MTX) Abortion, it stops embryonic cells from dividing and multiplying and is a non-surgical method of ending pregnancy in its early stages and also to stop an ectopic pregnancy. I don't know the reasons for your miscarriage. But, It's important to talk to your doctor and he can refer you to the appropriate specialist in maternal-fetal medicine, genetics, or reproductive endocrinology who can help you have the best treatment to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy. A second opinion is always best!
Some of the reasons why you should see a specialist:
Have had two or more miscarriages
Are over age 35
Have an illness that may affect your pregnancy (such as diabetes)
Have or had fertility problems
Here is a link that might help.

Best of luck,
