Pregnancy symptoms differ from woman to woman and from pregnancy to pregnany. Some women experience signs or symptoms of pregnancy within a week of conception. For other women, pregnancy symptoms may develop over a few weeks or may not be present at all. In addition to a missed period, some women notice changes in their breasts, such as tenderness or swelling. Feeling fatigued or more tired is a pregnancy symptom which can also start as early as the first week after conception. Nausea or morning sickness usually develops 2 to 8 weeks following conception, but not all women experience this. I have 3 children and never experienced morning sickness. The sudden rise of hormones in your body can cause you to have headaches early in pregnancy. Frequent urination happens around 6 to 8 weeks following conception. Some women have food cravings or food aversions during early pregnancy. A pregnancy test checks for hCG levels. hCG is a hormone that is only produced during pregnancy. can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 - 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy. I think it is a good time to make an appointment with your gynecologist/obstetrician. If you are pregnant, you will want to start taking prenatal vitamins and begin your prenatal care.
