Hi Anon,

The A1C test measures your average blood glucose control for the past 2 to 3 months. It is determined by measuring the percentage of glycated hemoglobin, or HbA1c, in the blood.

Ideally, you want your A1C results to be less than 5.7. Did the doctor that gave you your results also diagnose you with Diabetes? The thing about these A1C tests is that if you had a high glucose reading all of last week, that's going to factor in your A1C result-- so in a few months you may actually want to get tested again after following an ADA approved diet. Diabetes.org has great recipes that you can follow http://www.diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/?loc=GlobalNavFF If you follow a diet and walk for 30 minutes a day, you may be pleasantly surprised in 3 months. Personally, I think that your A1C is low enough to be brought down to normal levels with diet and exercise alone.

Please try this and let me know if it helps. You can visit a government health clinic in your area that will charge you based on your income on a sliding scale. Some with little to no income can pay very little to receive health care. Please let me know where you are located if you need help finding a health clinic in your area.

Best,

Rosa
