Pain that was not there before but is now (or started 3 years ago) needs to be consulted with a doctor.
The good news is that there are Public Health clinics that work on a sliding scale that you can go to. If you tell me where you are located, I would be glad to find one in your area.
For future reference, if you have a Walgreens in your area, they have a Take Care Clinic that will perform these diagnostic tests at a low cost:

Although it could be menopause for which you will need to use a generous amount of water-based lubricants and perhaps a vaginal moisturizer-- it can also be a vaginal infection so it is important that you are seen by a doctor or nurse practitioner.
