Are you referring to Herpes when you say HSV? If so, and you have been having unprotected sex with this man then yes it could have been transmitted. When did you find out that you had genital Herpes? It is your responsibility to inform this man that you have Herpes and that he needs to go to his doctor to test himself since you have been sexually active for 5 years.
