An OBGYN friend of mine told me that she suspects that often times, pregnant women under the impression they're suffering from vulnodynia may actually have vulvar varicosities, which is when you get varicose veins down there while pregnant. There' s an article here on Empowher about it that's pretty informative ( https://www.empowher.com/community/share/vulvar-varicosities-varicose-veins-worst-all-possible-places ).

It apparently varies in its degree of severity. Some women require surgery, some others can get by with a compressive undergarment called a v2 support ( http://prenatal-cradle.com/v2-supporter/ ).

Either way, you're looking at a lot of pain. That said, if I had to choose between the two I'd take vulvar varicosities over vulvodynia any day of the week.
