Thank you for posting. What did your doctor tell your dad about the mass in his neck? It's really impossible for us to say whether or not he may have thyroid cancer since we are not his doctors. Your dad will need to follow-up with his MD and discuss the risks of the mass in the neck found. If you can, please attend his appointments with him so that you can ask any questions that you may have.
If he recently had a strep infection, then the lymph nodes in the neck would be swollen, as expected.
