Susan--

Thank you for sharing your reality about being that 1 in 2500. It is incredibly difficult for one to say that screening is unnecessary if you have had a close loved one or personal experience in which being that 1 meant having a life saved and not lost. However, I do think that this is when age and family history are significantly important-- a person whose mom, aunt, or sister has battled cancer needs to decide whether being over-diagnosed is a better option than being misdiagnosed versus one that has no family history, risk factors, symptoms, etc.

As long as women are educated with both positive and negative outcomes, they will hopefully be making an educated decision about whether or not to get screened.

Thanks for sharing!
