I've said it before and I'll say it again, and again, and again, until I finally pound it into people's thick heads. Healthy habits and activity need to be encouraged for EVERY BODY, not just for large bodies. A person's health cannot be determined by looking at their size.
Also, if larger kids (or adults) are told that they need to work out twice as much, working out will become something they hate. This is not a positive end result. And if they are told they need to eat half as much, even if they are not eating more than other people, it will lead to an obsession with food.
In school, first and foremost there must be zero tolerance for bullying. Bullying of fat kids is not going to make them thin, it is going to make them unhappy.
