Thank you for your question. I think the brown spotting is your period. Since you stopped taking birth control and recently had a miscarriage, your hormones are probabl all over the place right now. Bleeding, whether it is red or brown, is still your period so I wouldn't be too concerned that you are pregnant. If you are still concerned, take a pregnancy test to alm your nerves. The bleeding that appears brown in color is usually the lining of your uterus shedding from your last period and appears to be brown in color rather than the normal "blood red".
