Hi, I'm a 20 year old woman who was diagnosed with sponge kidneys when I was 19. I've had luck searching the web for more information if you just type the condition into Google. As far as preventative measures, my doctor instructed me to increase my water intake greatly and to consume anything containing citrus. I try to drink OJ and lemonade once a day or once every other day. I also try to incorporate lemon whenever possible, such as putting it in my water. I was also instructed to stay away from loose tea leaves, mainly green and black teas. As a tea drinker, I have found alternative ways to enjoy tea. This includes putting lemon slices in hot water, ginger, and drinking African roobios tea. I haven't had any more kidney stones since my diagnosis in November 2011, so I plan to keep this regimen up.
