Hello Anonymous,
Where did you read this information?

During menopause, a woman's ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone.
Fewer potential eggs are ripening in the ovaries each month, and ovulation is less predictable. Periods become irregular, until they stop completely.

Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is one option for relief of the symptoms of menopause, such as vaginal dryness and hot flashes. Use of these products will not cause the return of menstruation.

Citing the article, Bioidentical Hormones for Menopausal Hormone Therapy: Variation on a Theme,
"Although all oral hormonal preparations require a prescription, topical hormone preparations are generally regulated as cosmetics, not drugs,3 and so are readily available without a prescription. Health food stores sell progesterone and DHEA creams, and estrogen creams may be purchased on the internet.
Estrogen is an effective treatment for hot flashes and vaginal dryness, but neither estrogen nor estrogen/progestin therapy should be used for disease prevention."

You can read the entire article and discuss the use of bio-identical progesterone and estradiol cream to reduce the risk of uterine cancer with your gynecologist.
