Unfortunately, the only effective way to eliminate old acne scarring is with specific dermatological procedures. Some options include dermabrasion, chemical peel, collagen injections, laser resurfacing, punch grafts, and autologous fat transfer.
Acne breakouts are treated either topically or systemically. Topical medication may contain a retinoid, prescription-strength benzoyl peroxide, antibiotic, or even salicylic acid. Antibiotics, birth control pills and Isotretinoin are prescribed to treat acne systemically.
You can find over the counter products that can control acne breakouts, but nothing really effective to removal old acne scars.
