My son suffered a concession almost 12 months ago. After six weeks of being in an unstimulated environment he was cleared for normal activity but I knew there was something not quite right. He possibly had been on the oppositional defiant spectrum his entire life, but now it was even more intense. 4 months after the concussion he attempted suicide. He spent a week in an adolecent psychiatric ward, missed a month of school and is now currently on meds. There was a time in the midst of all of this where I thought he would not be long for this world. But I kept a gratitude list and read it to myself every time I was about to meet with one of his doctors. Because you just want to shake them for answers. Only a mother can truly know the condition of her son but we do need the physicians as support.
