Are you talking about the Genetically Modified Foods (GMO) labeling? Many individuals will not consume foods from farms or other manufacturers who mistreat animals. Many food sources will use feed in order to fatten up the animals for our consumption while other companies will genetically engineer (even fruits and vegetables) to produce bigger products for their bigger pockets sort of speak. This is a good example of the "organic section" at local grocery stores versus the regular fruits and vegetables. If this is not what you were seeking, ask an additional question being more specific.
