Hello Anonymous,

I do not envy your friend.

Let's break it down.

Perimenopause is the transition phase when hormone levels fluctuate. Menstrual cycles may lengthen or shorten. You begin having menstrual cycles without ovulation. This is a time when you experience hot flashes, sleep problems and vaginal dryness.
Women start perimenopause at different ages, some in their 40s while others notice changes as early as their mid-30s.

Menopause is the time when a woman's menstrual periods stop completely. The average age of menopause is 51. You have reached menopause when you have not had a period for one year.

It is generally assumed that hot flashes and night sweats last between two to five years.

But, a study published on October 19, 2011 in the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology proves otherwise.

Please pass this on to your friend.
