Fasting is not healthy. Detoxing is may be risky and has not been proven to flush the body of toxins. "The idea that your body needs help getting rid of toxins has "no basis in human biology," says Frank Sacks, MD, of the Harvard School of Public Health.

You may lose weight by following a detox diet because they are very low in calories.

A healthy immune system and liver take care of removing toxins regularly.

More importantly, avoid ingesting toxins, such as alcohol, fatty food and highly sugared foods.
