Welcome to EmpowHER. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, women who uses gel manicures occasionally do not pose a real threat to nail health versus to those used for a long extended period of time. Any manicures whether it's gels or acrylic left for a long time on the bed of the nail can have consequences. It's important to monitored the nail frequently and if you notice any changes to the skin around the nail or to the nail itself, see a dermatologist immediately. These can be a sign of an infection.
