Hi Beth,

Thank you for sharing your question with EmpowHER! A viral syndrome is a type of viral illness that occurs when a virus hits the human body. According to the University of Minnesota Medical Center, symptoms vary depending on what part of the body the virus hits. For example, if viral syndrome hits the stomach, symptoms may include vomiting and diarrhea. In general, viral syndrome can cause symptoms including fever, loss of appetite, aching, sleepiness, nausea and shortness of breath.

If symptoms for viral syndrome persist, stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and visit a doctor. There are several antiviral medications your doctor can prescribe to get rid of the virus.

Viral syndrome and adult viral syndrome are the same condition, but may have slightly different symptoms because one applies to children and the other applies to adults. When symptoms are severe, both viral syndrome and adult viral syndrome need attention from a doctor.

I hope this helped and please let me know if you have any other questions!

Best,

Erin
