Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns about menopause, aging and skin changes.

A woman has reached menopause when she has not had a menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. On average, a woman will reach menopause in her 50s.

By our fifth decade of life, there will be age related changes, in woman as well as men. But for menopausal women, less estrogen increases the risk for thinning skin, wrinkles and sagging. The body produces less collagen which contributes to sagging skin.

Moisturize your skin regularly, avoid long hot showers, and use a broad spectrum SPF sunblock daily. Eat foods with antioxidants to help make skin stronger from the inside out. Keep physically and mentally active to stay fit. We cannot stop time, but we can do our best to age gracefully.

Regards,
Maryann
