Periods can change at random times in your life depending on medications, stress, recent illness, excessive exercise and more. Yes, it is common to have lighter periods as you approach menopause, but it is very unlikely that is the cause since you are so young and menopause doesn't occur until much later in life.
Don't feel too worried, as I've experienced the same thing with lighter periods. Depending on my hormones each month, stress, exercise and other factors, my period has been lighter or heavier during different months.
It's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about why your period is lighter and changing. They can give you a good idea as to why this may be happening.
